The Brand Stylist
Overview
Last year I decided to give myself some creative space and joined Elevate, a six week mentoring programme for brand designers committed to excellence with Fiona Humberstone, The amazing Brand Stylist. It was immersive and a game changer, allowing me to connect with a group of entrepreneurs, elevate the areas of my branding offering and lift presentation of my work.
We worked on three brand identity briefs that allowed us to nail our portfolio, to refine our skills and to really push ourselves to elevate. BREEN was our first brief: an exciting new (fictional) hotel opening on the edge of one of Norway’s most majestic Fjords. Located on the banks of the deep blue Geirangerfjord, guests will be immersed in the wonder of this incredible location whilst being thoroughly indulged in world-class facilities.
Geirangerfjord is known for wild waterfalls, astonishing mountains, lush vegetation and featherlight mists with enchanting, ever-changing rainbows. Owners Astrid and Felman are excited to create a luxury hotel brand that has humility and wellbeing at its heart. They want to give their guests the chance to escape, rest and rejuvenate whilst being nourished and nurtured. Nature is a huge part of the experience at the hotel and they are keen to bring this into the branding where possible.
The logo was kept minimalist but introduced a secondary aged font and the secondary logotype was also aged to add a rustic feel. I introduced Mind, Body and Soul as a tagline to the main logo so it would work across the 3 areas of the business, creating three sub brands: Mind, for outdoor pursuits, Body for the spa, and Soul for the food/ restaurant.
